ABOUT

Born in Kanagawa, Japan, Yukari started to take piano and ballet lessons at the age of five.

She loved to perform on the stage so she joined the drama club at primary school. After entering Junior high school, she encountered Shigin, a traditional Japanese operatic form of poetry recitation. Her Japanese teacher was Mr. Matsushima, a master of Shigin and also a head of Ginshin-ryu school. Randomly one day in the school hall way, Yukari was asked to be his student. That was the moment Yukari’s music journey began.

Yukari joined numerous Shigin contests and competitions. She won first prize at Chigasaki-city Shigin competition (Young department) in early 2000. She was the second prize at Columbia Records Shigin contest (Kanagawa prefecture rea) in 2010. She was a finalist at several Shigin competition, such as King Records, Victor records and Japan National Shigin Competition in 2012.

Yukari likes not only Japanese traditional music and Japanese music but also, she grew up listening to world popular songs. She has taken vocal lessons to sing popular songs and sang a few times at live houses in Tokyo.

After gone through busy life as a system engineer in Tokyo, Yukari moved to Australia in 2012 to expand her life experiences and search for challenges. She travelled around Australia and settled in Melbourne in 2013. Currently, Yukari is studying contemporary music performance at JMC Academy. Yukari has performed at several music venues around Melbourne. During her studying, she has been building her own sound that is the combination of Japanese traditional tune and world popular music. As she has a great interest in healing and spiritual energy, she is hoping that she delivers positive energy and sense of healing to people through her singing and performance.

Yukari is currently working on songs for her recital that will be held in end of August 2018.

She is hoping to create uniquely arranged songs and perform them. She is very excited and looking forward to it.
